Embargo Añejo Blanco Rum, 70 cl
£21.89
The white rum from the Embargo range is actually briefly aged, leading to a very pale golden hue and a touch of warming oak-y spice on the palate. The colour stripped out by charcoal filtering, but this delivers a smooth profile, with gentle oak still on the finish, and plenty of character to make a rocking Daiquiri or Mojito.

Description
Embargo is a new rum label from Jean Moueix and Alex Sirech. Moueix is part of the family that owns top-shelf Bordeaux wine Petrus (as well as negociant Duclot) while Sirech used to work for Bordeaux wine magnate Bernard Magrez. Together they formed a new spirits company - Les Bienheureux. Even within the crazy, regulation-light world of rum, Embargo pushes the limits, bringing together rums from Trinidad, Cuba and Guatemala, as well as agricole from Martinique.

Painkiller Cocktail Recipe
So the legend goes, the Painkiller cocktail was invented in the 1970’s in the British Virgin Islands at a bar called Soggy Dollar Bar. It was originally made with Pusser’s Rum, a type of rum made using the British Royal Navy recipe. The drink was trademarked in the 1980’s so that if it’s included on a menu, it should include the traditional Pusser’s Rum. Of course if you’re making it at home, you can use any type of aged or dark rum - we won't tell anyone!
