This extraordinary vintage was introduced to mark the 20th anniversary of Maison Ferrand. An assemblage of fine rums 12 - 20 years old, all originating in Barbados, this is a wonderful reflexion of the island itself. As with the other rums in the Plantation range, this exotic spirit is aged first in its original country, Barbados, and then benefits with further aging and nurturing in Cognac. Resting in casks originally used for Pierre Ferrand cognac, and meticulously nurtured by Cellar Master of Maison Ferrand, a unique expression is achieved using traditional local methods. Hints of spicy oak on the nose, with guava, a little desiccated coconut and dried banana. On the palate you will find spice with sweet vanilla notes and caramel.

Description

Plantation Rum is the brain child of one Alexandre Gabriel whose initial interest in distillation and spirits can be found in Cognac at Maison Ferrand. Having re-established what was a flagging house he was gripped by the bug of making superb, artisanal spirits. Some 10 years later Alexandre felt equally inspired by the Caribbean and its Rum. In creating Plantation Rums he sourced some of the best Rum Barrels to be found and set about becoming an expert in Rum creation. You can feel the dedication in every bottle.

Painkiller Cocktail Recipe

So the legend goes, the Painkiller cocktail was invented in the 1970’s in the British Virgin Islands at a bar called Soggy Dollar Bar. It was originally made with Pusser’s Rum, a type of rum made using the British Royal Navy recipe. The drink was trademarked in the 1980’s so that if it’s included on a menu, it should include the traditional Pusser’s Rum. Of course if you’re making it at home, you can use any type of aged or dark rum - we won't tell anyone!
