Orin Swift Machete, 75 cl
£52.49
Violet ink in the glass, a nose of black plums, cassis, and cacao engage. The robust entry consists of a progressing palate of blackberry and boysenberry compote, a reduction of dark plum and ripe figs, and pure Amarena cherry. Flashes of vanilla and traces of minerality evolve into chalky tannins and a smooth lingering finish. Made in very small quantities which ensure superb quality and consistency but does put pressure on our stocks!

Description
Wine of character is a term often thrown around it seems to me when it appears to be more led by the desire of a marketing team than an actual description of the wine or indeed the winery itself. Here, though, you have the real deal. David Swift Phinney is the man behind what ends up as an unforgettable wine in your glass. The name Orin Swift is actually a combination of his father's middle name and his mother's maiden name.
Tasting notes
Drinking well now, but will only get better and better. A blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah and Grenache ensures great complexity.

1870 Sour Cocktail Recipe
The 1870 Sour, also known as the New York Sour ,updates the Whiskey Sour recipe (whiskey, lemon, sugar, egg white) with a float of dry red wine. (Psst, a float is when you suspend the final ingredient on top of the drink!). Everyone loves a good layered cocktail. They are fun to make and look amazing in photos - perfect for Instagram.
