Orin Swift Abstract 2022, 75 cl
Regular price £36.99
Abstract is the epitome of complexity through geographic diversification. The wine, like the label, is a collage of many different parts and pieces. Fruit is sourced from multiple vineyards, in multiple appellations, throughout the state to create a style but also to maintain consistency from year to year. The label is over 230 individual images collected over many years, assembled over a four-week period. The wine, like the label, starts with over 200 hundred pieces, whittled down over the course of a few months during multiple marathon tastings- not all of which made the blend. Resulting is a wine representative of the Golden State. The wine is a blend of Grenache, Petite Sirah and Syrah all aged for 8 months in a combination of new and seasoned French Oak Read more.

Description
Wine of character is a term often thrown around it seems to me when it appears to be more led by the desire of a marketing team than an actual description of the wine or indeed the winery itself. Here, though, you have the real deal. David Swift Phinney is the man behind what ends up as an unforgettable wine in your glass. The name Orin Swift is actually a combination of his father's middle name and his mother's maiden name.
Tasting Notes
Expansive aromas of ripe red fruits- raspberries, cherries and strawberries and ab touch of Boysen and huckleberries open the nose. The aromas continue onto the palate with added layers of charred meat, rhubarb, thyme, surrounding a dark fruit core. Smooth, enveloping and lasting, the wine finishes with a pleasing maraschino cherry note.
