Exquisitely balanced and delivering wave upon wave of warm aromatic smoke and richly ripened fruit. Heathery aromatic smoke from the Orkney peat infused with barley. There is a natural cask driven colour (no additives) from Oloroso sherry oak casks. Flavours of Green Apple, Lemon intertwine with a hint of oriental spice and a warm aromatic smoke. Valkyrie is the first in a series of three special Viking Legend releases and has just been awarded the Chairman's Trophy in the 2017 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, scoring 99 out of 100. Read more.

Description
It was Magnus Eunson who founded Highland Park, back in 1798. Much is made of his Viking heritage around the distillery and there is little doubt that, being based on Orkney some 16km north of the Scottish mainland, that the climate is certainly pretty wild being surrounded by stormy seas. Despite its remoteness though, the temperature is relatively steady across the year (rarely varying out of between 2 and 16 degrees) which is perfect for maturing whisky.
