Dalmore King Alexander III Whisky, 70 cl Whisky 5013967005044

Crafted to honour the act of saving Scotland's King in 1263, this expression unites six specially selected casks housing spirit of perfect maturity. Whiskies matured in ex-bourbon casks, Matusalem oloroso sherry wood, Madeira barrels, Marsala casks, port pipes and Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques are brought together in perfect harmony. Each cask gives its own flavour notes, delivering a unique complex single malt whisky revered by connoisseurs. The whisky has a terrific aroma of red berry fruits, fresh flowers and hints of passion fruit whilst its palate is a heady mix of citrus zest, vanilla pod, creme caramel and crushed almonds. Cracking.

Description

The Dalmore's heritage dates back to 1263, when an ancestor of the Clan Mackenzie, owners of The Dalmore distillery for over a century, saved King Alexander III from the fury of a charging stag. In recognition of this noble act the grateful King granted the Clan Mackenzie the right to use a 12-point stag, representing a 'Royal', in their coat of arms. This striking icon has since adorned each bottle of The Dalmore, symbolising The Dalmore distillery's regal legacy.

Tasting notes

Rob Roy Cocktail Recipe

If there was ever a cocktail to make you feel the glitz and glamour of the history and chic society of New York, it's ordering a Rob Roy. The Rob Roy is a riff on a Manhattan, with their only difference being the base liquor. A Rob Roy is made using blended Scotch while a Manhattan is made with Rye. As such, the cocktail is malty and smooth, with a bit of spice on the finishing end.
