Bruichladdich's Octomore continues to deliver for fans of super heavily peated Islay whisky and it's amazing to see it is now at the 11th series of iterations (where has the time gone?). The 11.1 has been bottled from whisky matured for 5 years in first fill ex-American whiskey casks. Distilled in 2014, this Ocotmore spirit was made with 100% Scottish barley and peated to 139.6ppm.

Description

Bruichladdich is based on the utterly wonderful Hebridean isle of Islay and is incredibly proud of it too, promoting much of this Island and what it has to offer on their website. All their whiskies use only Scottish Barley (it’s called Scotch for a reason as they say) and are born and created to reflect the character and history of Islay. Their presentation is cracking too.

Tasting notes

Brown sugar sweetness, stone fruit, apricot and sweet vanilla

Rob Roy Cocktail Recipe

If there was ever a cocktail to make you feel the glitz and glamour of the history and chic society of New York, it's ordering a Rob Roy. The Rob Roy is a riff on a Manhattan, with their only difference being the base liquor. A Rob Roy is made using blended Scotch while a Manhattan is made with Rye. As such, the cocktail is malty and smooth, with a bit of spice on the finishing end.
