At only three-years-old 10.4 is the youngest whisky in the Octomore series and was distilled in 2015 from the 2015 harvest. Peated to 88ppm and matured in 28 heavily-toasted virgin Limousin oak casks create a layer of dry fruit and vanilla on the palate, alongside oak spice and rich smoke.

Description

Bruichladdich is based on the utterly wonderful Hebridean isle of Islay and is incredibly proud of it too, promoting much of this Island and what it has to offer on their website. All their whiskies use only Scottish Barley (it’s called Scotch for a reason as they say) and are born and created to reflect the character and history of Islay. Their presentation is cracking too.

Tasting notes

Notes of salt, honey and lemon, developing pear, gooseberry and oak atop a backdrop of heavy peat smoke

Rob Roy Cocktail Recipe

If there was ever a cocktail to make you feel the glitz and glamour of the history and chic society of New York, it's ordering a Rob Roy. The Rob Roy is a riff on a Manhattan, with their only difference being the base liquor. A Rob Roy is made using blended Scotch while a Manhattan is made with Rye. As such, the cocktail is malty and smooth, with a bit of spice on the finishing end.
