Gelston's 5 Year Old Single Malt Whisky, 70 cl
Regular price £25.99 £24.49
Another addition to the Gelston's range of wonderful Irish whiskey, this 5 Year Old single malt was aged in first-fill bourbon casks and then treated to a finish in sherry casks for around 160 days (or just over five months, if that's how you like to group your measurements of time). Bottled up at 41.2% ABV, creamier notes from the whiskey are bolstered by a good hit of spice from the cask finish. A fab cocktail contender, this. Read more.

Description
Samuel Gelston first opened his wine and whiskey business in 1830 in the thriving port of Belfast and grew it very successfully across Ireland until his death in 1869. That same year Geilston's was purchased by Harry J. Neill and five generations later it remains in the hands of the Neill family. Harry continued to grow Geilston's across Ireland, Scotland and in overseas markets. HJ Neill sourced many of its premium whiskeys from the Cromac distillery which was owned by Harry's great friend Johnny McConnell, of J and J McConnell, and subsequently by Harry's brother-in-law Sir Charles Brett. The Cromac distillery was situated just along the road from HJ Neill stores which were situated at 9/11 street. At HJ Neill we continue to source the very finest quality Irish whiskeys for Geilston's and we endeavour to uphold Harry's integrity and adventurous spirit. This stunning liquid has been developed and carefully nurtured to the highest standards by Bush mills - an Irish distillery dating back to 1608. During a key phase in the 1990's, the Head Distiller was Frank McHardy - a legendary figure in distilling - whose craft and expertise during that time has produced some of the finest Irish whiskey expressions. Frank was enrolled into Whisky Magazine's 'Hall of Fame' in 2014 - an award bestowed to those who have made an lasting contribution to the whisky industry.
