Freixenet celebrated being 100 years old not so long ago and remains one of the industry's leading lights. You may well have come across their sparkling wines before any of their still wine range. The reason for this is, quite simply, when Freixenet was born as a business in 1911 making still wine was highly problematic across Europe so the family decided to concentrate on fizz.
