El Dorado 8 Year Old Rum, 70 cl
Regular price £28.99
This superb recent addition to the El Dorado portfolio is the result of the skillful marriage by their Master Blenders of aged rums from no fewer than four of the traditional Stills preserved by Demerara Distillers, including the original Wooden Coffey Still from Enmore and the double Wooden Pot Still from Port Mourant. This 8 Year Old rum is a complex fusion of a full flavoured, heavy bodied rum with light-to-medium bodied rums aged in bourbon oak casks , creating a sumptuous smooth sipping rum. There is a light to medium-bodied nose with hints of tobacco mixed with caramel toffee and a faint aroma of dried stone fruits and flambee banana. Soft and faintly sweet mouth-feel with traces of oak and butterscotch. Read more.

Description
“El Dorado' was a legendary King from Guyana who was fabled to have his body dusted in Gold who also lived in a city made of it too. Whilst it may not be the 1st place that springs to mind when you think of Rum, it has been produced there since the mid 17th Century. Whilst Sugar Cane had been planted in Guyana for a number of years, the distillation process was not known in the country until around 1650. Perhaps unsurprisingly once the process was fully understood this new alcoholic drink was so well received that by 1670 it is said that every single sugar estate on the island had started to distil.
