This aged blend is made with a selection of eight-year-old malts and grain whiskies, carefully vatted with a spirit distilled from malted barley, giving it its distinctively smooth, full-bodied flavor. It has a light color and offers aromas of toffee, vanilla and sweet heather that carry through on the nose. On the palate you'll find flavors of raisins, almonds and rich fruitcake. The finish is slightly smoky with accents of hazelnuts and just enough charred oak to give the whisky a subtle sweetness all its own. After production, Dewar's Illegal Smooth 8 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky is aged in a combination of oak casks for over eight years for maximum character and complexity.

The Rob Roy is a riff on a Manhattan, with their only difference being the base liquor. A Rob Roy is made using blended Scotch while a Manhattan is made with Rye. As such, the cocktail is malty and smooth, with a bit of spice on the finishing end.
