Subdued, citric fruitiness. A fresh and appetising nose, with little or no trace of smoke, but believe me it's there, but mainly on the palate where it is light, fragrant and very pleasant indeed.

Description

It was Hector Henderson who originally brought the Caol Ila whiskies to the World in 1846. From there to now has not been an easy ride however. The distillery has endured numerous changes in ownership (it is currently owned by Diageo) and closures for all sorts of reasons. Since 1974, when demand for whisky recovered, it has been on a much surer footing though.

Tasting notes

Smokey, sea fresh whisky

Rob Roy Cocktail Recipe

If there was ever a cocktail to make you feel the glitz and glamour of the history and chic society of New York, it's ordering a Rob Roy. The Rob Roy is a riff on a Manhattan, with their only difference being the base liquor. A Rob Roy is made using blended Scotch while a Manhattan is made with Rye. As such, the cocktail is malty and smooth, with a bit of spice on the finishing end.
