This whiskey has been around for a long time – the Ripy brothers opened their family distillery on Wild Turkey Hill in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky in 1869. That distillery’s been making whiskey ever since. Also, in 1976, they put on their inventor hats and created the world’s first whiskey liqueur to bring more people into the bourbon world, which was the first draft of what would later become their delicious Wild Turkey American Honey Liqueur.

The distillery currently has a father-son duo as master distillers, and none other than Matthew Mcconaughy as their creative director. This shows that the brand knows itself, its audience, and it isn’t afraid of the future. Their core offering of Wild Turkey Rye and Wild Turkey 81 is still going strong, but they’ve recently launched a very exciting Longbranch small-batch bourbon.
