The criminals on 19 Crimes wine are actual convicts who were sentenced to hard labour in Australia back in the 1800s (bar Snoop Dogg). The British colonists thought it would be a fun idea to make wine from the grapes grown by these prisoners, and thus, 19 Crimes was born. Each bottle of wine tells the story of a different criminal, and each wine is named after the crime that convict committed. For example, 'The Convict' red blend is named after Thomas Barrett, who was convicted of stealing a loaf of bread. 'The Rogue' white blend is named after James Johnson, who was convicted of sheep stealing. And so on.
