Bored of standard tequila shots? The much-loved Tequila Slammer shot is a lively way to enjoy tequila that's definitely fun to try with your best friends. Although the cocktail itself is very simple, containing only two ingredients, but what makes the Slammer unique is the actions you take while drinking it. Most famously, the act of slamming the glass on the table before drinking, which is where it gets its name. 

Though we're unsure of the exact time that partygoers first began enjoying the Tequila Slammer, one of its most notable appearances is when Elvis Presley is shown demonstrating the technique in the 1963 film Fun in Acapulco. 

For a fun twist, try mixing up the lemonade with your favourite soda, such as Ginger Ale. Happy Slamming!

  1. Measure the ingredients and pour in an old-fashioned glass.
  2. Quickly cover the glass with your hand.
  3. Slam the glass on the bar to begin the fizzing. 
  4. Drink while still fizzing for best results.
