Salty Dog Cocktail Recipe
The salty dog cocktail is a modified Greyhound (gin or vodka with grapefruit juice) that is differentiated by the drink’s salted rim. But that salt gives this drink its own identity. The Greyhound drink is a two-part classic cocktail that you can make as quickly as a Greyhound can run. Composed of gin and grapefruit juice, this cocktails is simple, tart and refreshing—just what we like from our cocktails! You can also substitute gin for vodka if you want, although the original greyhound cocktail recipe has Gin.
If you have a Grapefruit to hand, by all means get squeezing as fresh is always best! Similar to how a Screwdriver just tastes better with fresh OJ, using fresh grapefruit in the Salty Dog results in a cocktail that is perfect for breakfast, brunch and midday pick-me-ups.
